It works by blocking the effects of histamine (chemical messenger) which cause allergic reactions, thereby providing relief from allergic symptoms such as swelling, itching, running nose, sneezing, rashes, and watery eyes.

Indications of Rupa-Aid 10mg Tablet

Pharmacology

Rupatadine acts as a long-acting, non-sedative antagonist of histamine H1-receptors. Additionally, it antagonizes the platelet-activating factor (PAF). Both histamine and PAF contribute to bronchoconstriction, leading to increased vascular permeability and acting as mediators in the inflammatory process. Rupatadine's dual mode of action results in a better therapeutic effect compared to isolated antihistamines. Furthermore, Rupatadine possesses other anti-allergic properties, including inhibiting the degranulation of mast cells induced by both immunological and non-immunological stimuli. It also inhibits the release of cytokines, particularly tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF α), in human mastocytes and monocytes.

Dosage & Administration of Rupa-Aid 10mg Tablet

For adults and adolescents over 12 years old, the recommended dose of Rupatadine is 10 mg once daily. It can be taken with or without food.

For children aged 2 to 11 years:

• Children weighing 25 kg or more: 1 teaspoonful (5 ml) of the oral solution once daily, with or without food.
• Children weighing equal to or more than 10 kg to less than 25 kg: 1/2 teaspoonful (2.5 ml) of the oral solution once daily, with or without food.

Before taking Rupa-Aid 10mg Tablet, it's crucial to inform your doctor if you are currently taking any of the following medications:

1. Ketoconazole: This medication is used to treat fungal infections.
2. Erythromycin: Used to treat bacterial infections.

4. Statins: Drugs like atorvastatin, fluvastatin, and pravastatin, are used to manage high cholesterol levels.
5. Midazolam: This drug is used for short-term sedation.

Avoid consuming grapefruit juice while taking Rupa-Aid 10mg Tablet, as it may increase the concentration of the medication in your body.

Since there is a lack of clinical experience in patients with impaired kidney or liver function, the use of Rupa-Aid 10mg Tablet is not currently recommended for these patients.
